Double Purple Ballerina Datura - Datura Metel

Datura or Devil's Trumpet is more commonly known as thornapple or jimsonweed. All species are poisonious and psychoactive. Ingestion is not recommended in any form.

Historical use finds itself with the Tarahumara Indians of Chihuahua who even now sometimes add Datura inoxia to tesguino, a fermented drink made from sprouted maize which the Huichols call nawd, while in South America the Jivaro of Ecuador, for example, strengthen natema, the hallucinogenic beverage made basically from a species of Banisteriopsis, by adding a species of Datura of the arborescent subgenus Brugmansia.

Datura is used heavily in the worship of Shiva in Hinduism. Seed pods are given to the God as a gift. Please if you are interested read the Samudra-manthana (The Churning Of The Ocean.) It is an important part of Hindu mythology in which man's greed causes the release of a toxin so deadly that the world could see it's end. Instead of letting the world end, Shiva swallows all of the poison that was created, causing his throat to turn blue and the species datura to sprout from his stomach.

Metal tags are specifically from Amekron IMPRESS-O-TAG aluminum plant label tags. They are durable, lasting and simple to use. You can imprint them with a regular pen, and then trace the words with sharpie. The sharpie will fade in the sun over time but you will not lose the impression of what you have written. Our metal tags come with our name on the back of the tag and the variety you have ordered if you use premade tags by us. We stand by our cuttings and want our name to continue to be along side your plants when they start fruiting.
